Recently, I’ve been asked how Muscle Cell is able to provide healthy, fresh meals at a much lower price than many of our competitors. Honestly, it wasn’t something I had thought deeply about until that first question came a few weeks ago. I think the reason it hadn’t crossed my mind is because we don’t spend much time thinking about what other companies are doing—we focus on what we love. That same mindset guides how we cook, how we hire, and how we serve.

When a business is built primarily to make a profit, it will charge the maximum amount people are willing to pay. That’s why you’ll see some meal prep companies expanding rapidly to new areas and states, building state-of-the-art kitchens, and investing in flashy packaging. All of that comes with a high price tag—and that cost has to come from somewhere. I can almost guarantee it’s not being covered by donations or the founder’s wallet.

So what does that mean for you, the customer? It means $13–$24 meals. (Which, frankly, still blows my mind.)

At Muscle Cell, we operate from a different place—passion. Passion for the craft of cooking. Passion for health. Passion for serving the people in our community. That’s why charging premium prices for meals that cost just a few dollars to make doesn’t align with our values. It’s not the goal.

And yes, we believe it’s still possible to grow. Growth just requires a shift in mindset. Once we’ve served and supported enough people in our immediate community, we can expand that mission:
“We want to help improve the health of people in our county. Our state. Our world.”

It all comes down to perspective.
         We believe in loving people more than loving money.
         And that’s what guides every decision we make.
